Powermatic 1200 Drill Press ==> Bringing It Downstairs

UpUp

I had to take it apart to four major pieces, to take it downstairs. The pieces were the table, the column, the base, and the head.

I used disassembly as a good occasion to clean the drill press up. Besides the usual cleaning of the dirty outside surfaces, I also took apart the thrust bearing (see pictures) that would help the table rotate around the column. I am glad that I took it apart because inside, it was terribly dirty, with chips and dirt around the bearing balls, etc, and it would not provide for easy, smooth motion. I used marine bearing grease just in case.
